About women under 25 years checkups
Desk work does the same handful of things to almost everyone. Not dramatic things. Just the same three or four findings, over and over, and all of them fixable.
Vitamin D comes from sunlight hitting skin. Car to office to car, under tube lights all day, and you're getting close to none. Almost nobody eats enough of it either. B12 runs low if you're vegetarian, and it produces the exact same fog and fatigue.
The less obvious bit: sitting for long uninterrupted stretches changes how your body handles sugar and fat. It happens regardless of your weight, and regardless of whether you hit the gym in the evening. You can be lean, active, and still drifting. The numbers move before the scale does.
You're at a desk most of the day
You hit a wall around 3pm every day
You barely get direct sunlight on a workday
You're vegetarian
You've gained weight around the middle
Neck, back or eye strain alongside the tiredness
This page lists 8 options. Here's what each one actually measures, so you can pick instead of guessing.
Blood tests
Complete Blood Picture (CBP): Counts your red cells, white cells and platelets. It's the cheapest way to catch anaemia or an infection you didn't know you had, and it's the single most booked test we do.
CRP test: Tells you there's inflammation somewhere. It won't tell you where, but it answers whether something's actually going on.
HbA1c: Your average sugar over the last two to three months. One good week won't fix this number, which is the point of it.
Lipid Panel: Splits your cholesterol into the good, the bad and the triglycerides. High cholesterol has no symptoms at all, which is exactly the problem.
Thyroid Function Tests: Checks the hormones that set how fast your body runs. Worth doing if you're tired, gaining or losing weight without trying, or your hair's thinning.
Vitamin B12 Test: Your nerves and red blood cells need B12. If you're vegetarian, you're at real risk, and the symptoms are easy to miss: tingling hands, fuzzy thinking, no energy.
Vitamin D (25 - Hydroxy Vitamin D, Serum): Your body makes this from sunlight, and most people who work indoors don't get enough. Low levels show up as aching bones, weak muscles and flat mood.
Scans
Abdominal Ultrasound: Painless look at your liver, gallbladder, kidneys and pancreas. No radiation, and it takes about fifteen minutes.
No fasting: CRP test, Complete Blood Picture (CBP), HbA1c, Vitamin D (25 - Hydroxy Vitamin D, Serum)
Usually 6 to 8 hours fasting. Some scans want a full bladder: Abdominal Ultrasound
9 to 12 hours fasting. Water's fine: Lipid Panel
No fasting. Take your thyroid tablet after the sample, not before: Thyroid Function Tests
No fasting. Ask your doctor before pausing supplements: Vitamin B12 Test
Tell the collection team everything you're taking, prescription or not. Plenty of supplements move these numbers, and without that context your report reads wrong.
Once a year. Twice if your HbA1c or cholesterol came back high.
If everything comes back normal and you're still exhausted, that's worth knowing too. It moves the conversation to sleep, workload and stress, which are real problems with real fixes.
These tests point at a diagnosis. They don't make one. Read your report with a doctor who knows your history and what you're currently taking.
