About women under 25 years checkups
Men this age don't test until something's obviously wrong. Fair enough. But what turns up at 22 is almost never dramatic, which is exactly why it sits there for years.
Vitamin D and B12. Both common, both boring, both responsible for a lot of the tiredness and brain fog people blame on workload or gaming till 2am. Fix either one and you notice within a couple of months.
The other thing is that this is when habits start leaving a paper trail. Late nights, drinking, protein powders, eating whatever's open at 11pm. It shows in liver enzymes and cholesterol long before it shows anywhere else. Right now it's reversible. It doesn't stay that way forever.
You're tired or foggy even when you've slept
You're vegetarian
You take protein or bodybuilding supplements
You drink regularly
Diabetes or heart disease runs in the family
You want a baseline before you start training seriously
This page lists 6 options. Here's what each one actually measures, so you can pick instead of guessing.
Blood tests
Complete Blood Picture (CBP): Counts your red cells, white cells and platelets. It's the cheapest way to catch anaemia or an infection you didn't know you had, and it's the single most booked test we do.
CRP test: Tells you there's inflammation somewhere. It won't tell you where, but it answers whether something's actually going on.
Lipid Panel: Splits your cholesterol into the good, the bad and the triglycerides. High cholesterol has no symptoms at all, which is exactly the problem.
Liver Function Test (LFT): Your liver handles everything you eat, drink and swallow. It puts up with a lot before it complains, so this picks up fatty liver or alcohol strain years before you'd feel anything.
Vitamin B12 Test: Your nerves and red blood cells need B12. If you're vegetarian, you're at real risk, and the symptoms are easy to miss: tingling hands, fuzzy thinking, no energy.
Vitamin D (25 - Hydroxy Vitamin D, Serum): Your body makes this from sunlight, and most people who work indoors don't get enough. Low levels show up as aching bones, weak muscles and flat mood.
No fasting: CRP test, Complete Blood Picture (CBP), Vitamin D (25 - Hydroxy Vitamin D, Serum)
9 to 12 hours fasting. Water's fine: Lipid Panel
Skip alcohol for 24 hours first: Liver Function Test (LFT)
No fasting. Ask your doctor before pausing supplements: Vitamin B12 Test
Tell the collection team everything you're taking, prescription or not. Plenty of supplements move these numbers, and without that context your report reads wrong.
Once a year is enough if you're symptom-free. Twice if your liver enzymes or cholesterol came back high, or while you're on a supplement cycle.
Slightly raised liver enzymes at this age are common and usually temporary. Alcohol does it, supplements do it, so does a recent viral fever. Your doctor will almost certainly repeat the test before doing anything about it.
These tests point at a diagnosis. They don't make one. Read your report with a doctor who knows your history and what you're currently taking.
